Samuel Shimon’s first novel »An Iraqi in Paris« was published in 2005. It is about a young Iraqi who leaves home to become a film-maker. In the first three countries he gets to, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, he finds himself jailed, tortured and thrown out. Later, living on the streets of Paris as a homeless refugee and writer, he dreams of making a film about his father, a deaf-mute baker. This movie is to become the story of his childhood.
