Wojciech Kuczok, born 1972 in Chorzów/Oberschlesien, made his debut as a poet in 1996, and worked as a journalist, film critic, and playwright. He found recognition with his narratives and his novel »Dreckskerl«, for which he won the most impor- tant Polish literature prize, the NIKE, in 2004. A film made from the text after a script written by the author won the grand prize at the 2004 Gdynia film festival. The book has been translated into fifteen languages. His second novel, »Sennosc« and the Polish film of the same name appeared in 2008.
